- Israel launched its first fully government-funded and locally built communication satellite, Dror-1.
- It is a geostationary satellite positioned 36,000 km above the Earth's equator.
- Dror-1 is expected to serve national communication needs for 15 years.
- After reaching geostationary transfer orbit, it will use onboard propulsion to settle into its final orbit, maintaining communication over Israel and nearby regions.
