- The outbreak began in October 2024 and affected many provinces and the Northwest Territories.
- Measles is highly infectious, spread through the air via coughs and sneezes, and preventable by the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine.
- Vaccination coverage in Canada dropped from 89.5 percent in 2019 to 82.5 percent in 2023, below the 95 percent needed for herd immunity.
