- A new dragonfly species named Lyriothemis abrahami has been discovered in the Western Ghats.
- The dragonfly was named in the very honour of Abraham Samuel, a well-known odonatologist from Kerala.
- It is endemic to the southern and central Western Ghats and found in lowland rainforests as well as mid-elevation evergreen and deciduous forests.
- With this addition, Kerala’s odonate (dragonflies and damselflies) species count has risen to 191, with 78 species found only in the region.
