- The Government of India is introducing two new Ratna categories for Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).
- A ten-member committee headed by Cabinet Secretary T. V. Somanathan is reviewing the classification.
- The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) and NITI Aayog are also involved in the evaluation.
- The new categories will complement existing Maharatna, Navratna, and Miniratna statuses.
- Evaluation will include corporate governance, sustainable business practices, and strategic importance.
- The committee is expected to submit its report ahead of the Union Budget for 2026-2027.
