- The Bill prescribes imprisonment from a minimum of 10 years up to life and fines ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh for sacrilege convictions.
- Attempted sacrilege attracts 3 to 5 years imprisonment and fines up to Rs 3 lakh.
- Abetment is also punishable.
- The Punjab government did not consult the Union Law Ministry before drafting the bill.
