2 February 2 World Wetland Day Purpose: To mark the date of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands, called the Ramsar Convention, on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea.
3 February 4 World Cancer Day Purpose: To raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment. Observed by: World Health Organization
4 February 5 Safer Internet Day Purpose: To promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people in Europe and across the world. Observed by: Insafe -INHOPE Network
5 February 6 International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation Purpose: To raise awareness about the female genital mutilation (FGM) and to promote its eradication. Observed by: UNICEF
6 February 10  and 10 August each year National Deworming Day Purpose: To deworm children between the ages of (1-19) at schools and anganwadi centres. Observed by: Government of India
7 February 11 International Day of Women and Girls in Science Purpose: To highlight female achievement, equal access and participation in the science field. Observed by: UN
8 February 12 National Productivity Day Purpose: To encourage all stakeholders to implement productivity tools & techniques with contemporary relevant themes. Observed by: National Productivity Council
9 February 13 World Radio Day Purpose: To remember the contribution of radio in our life. Observed by: UNESCO   Sarojini Naidu Birthday – Known as Nightingale of India.
10 February         20 World Day of Social Justice Purpose: To promote efforts to tackle issues such as poverty, exclusion and unemployment. Observed by: UN
11 February 21 International Mother Language day Purpose: To promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. Observed by: UNESCO
12 February 22 World thinking day Purpose: A day when they think about their “sisters” (and “brothers”) in all the countries of the world, the meaning of Guiding, and its global impact. Observed by: WAGGG (World Association for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts).
