- Hydro pumped storage uses extra electricity to pump water uphill and generate power during peak demand.
- It will help manage electricity supply and support renewable energy like solar and wind.
- The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has identified 120 potential sites for these projects.
- About 22 GW of projects are already under development, and 50–60 GW are shortlisted for phased rollout.
