- The Union Public Service Commission celebrates 100 years of its establishment with events from 1 October 2025 to 1 October 2026.
- The Commission was first set up on 1 October 1926 under the Government of India Act 1919 and recommendations of the Lee Commission.
- It became the Federal Public Service Commission in 1937, as per the 1935 Government of India Act.
- It was renamed the Union Public Service Commission on 26 January 1950.
- Articles 315–323 of the Constitution made it the Union Public Service Commission with constitutional autonomy for impartial selection.
