  • He was the 9th Sikh guru, revered for his teachings, bravery, and martyrdom.
  • He is the son of Guru Hargovind (6th Sikh guru).
  • He was initially known as Tyag Mal for his ascetic nature.
  • Ascended as the 9th Sikh Guru in 1664, he was succeeding Guru Har Krishan.
  • He contributed 116 hymns to the Guru Granth Sahib.
  • In 1675, he was executed in Delhi on the orders of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
