The Ministry of Earth Science hosted the 8th Annual Contractors’ Meeting of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) in Goa.
Representatives from 14 ISA exploration contractors, including Russia, Japan, China, and others, attended the event organized by CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa.
The meeting focused on deep-sea exploration technology, environmental concerns, contract compliance, and sustainable marine resource development.
India holds two Polymetallic Sulphides (PMS) exploration contracts in the Indian Ocean, the only country with such dual contracts under the ISA.
The meeting followed the signing of the second PMS exploration contract between India’s Ministry of Earth Sciences and ISA on September 15, 2025.
