- The Ministry of Earth Science hosted the 8th Annual Contractors’ Meeting of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) in Goa.
- Representatives from 14 ISA exploration contractors, including Russia, Japan, China, and others, attended the event organized by CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa.
- The meeting focused on deep-sea exploration technology, environmental concerns, contract compliance, and sustainable marine resource development.
- India holds two Polymetallic Sulphides (PMS) exploration contracts in the Indian Ocean, the only country with such dual contracts under the ISA.
- The meeting followed the signing of the second PMS exploration contract between India’s Ministry of Earth Sciences and ISA on September 15, 2025.
