  • The Centre approved Adani Power Limited’s proposal to link its 1,600 MW Godda Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant in Jharkhand to the Indian grid.
  • The plant, declared an SEZ (Special Economic Zone) in March 2019, had been supplying power exclusively to Bangladesh under a long-term agreement.
  • Approval allows the plant to connect to the Indian grid through the Kahalgaon A–Maithon B line, passing through 56 villages in Godda district.
  • The Ministry of Power granted Adani Power authority under Section 164 of the Electricity Act 2003, similar to telegraph authority powers for transmission line installation.
