The vaccine, developed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and its partners.
It targets the parasite before it enters the bloodstream, preventing transmission.
The vaccine, called AdFalciVax, is designed against Plasmodium falciparum and aims to minimise malaria transmission.
Malaria accounts for 1.4% of the global cases and 0.9% of deaths, with 95% of India’s population living in malaria-endemic areas.
