India will conduct its first nationwide Adult Skill Assessment Survey in 2026.
The survey will be conducted by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) using the Comprehensive Modular Survey (CMS) framework.
It is being carried out at the request of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
The survey will cover persons aged 18 years and above and will be conducted over three months.
Adult skills will be classified into basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.
The survey aims to fill the data gap on actual skill levels, which is not covered by the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS).
