Prime Minister conducted an aerial survey of flood, landslide, and rain-affected areas in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.
He held review meetings with both state governments to assess the damage and announced financial aid packages.
For Himachal Pradesh, ₹1,500 crore was announced for relief and rehabilitation, along with ₹2 lakh ex gratia for families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.
In Punjab, the PM announced ₹1,600 crore in additional aid, over and above ₹12,000 crore already allocated to the state.
Advance release of the second instalment of the State Disaster Relief Fund and PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi was also announced for Punjab.
In Punjab, over 2,097 villages and more than 3.88 lakh people have been affected, with 52 confirmed deaths and widespread crop and livestock loss.
