- This day commemorates the creation of the Organisation of African Union on 25 May 1963.
- Africa is home to around 1.4 billion people, almost 17% of the world’s population.
- The continent also has 30% of the world’s mineral resources and 60% of the world’s unexploited arable land.
- 2025’s theme will be ‘Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through Reparations’.
