Google has launched a new computer chip named Ironwood.
Ironwood is a 7th generation Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) designed for Artificial Intelligence (AI) tasks.
It is optimized for Large Language Models (LLMs) and Mixture of Experts (MoEs) to generate insights.
The TPU supports up to 9,216 chips per pod, delivering 42.5 Exaflops of computing power.
Ironwood uses advanced liquid cooling and delivers double the performance per watt compared to the previous generation.
TPUs are specialized processors for AI, more efficient than CPU (Central Processing Unit) and GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), and are used in Google services like Search, YouTube, and DeepMind.
