AI Crowd Management Framework

Tamil Nadu Police used Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the first time to manage the crowd and vehicles at the Karthigai Deepam festival in Tiruvannamalai.
The AI system was connected to hundreds of CCTV (Closed-Circuit Television) cameras around the temple, streets, and girivalam routes.
The system gave crowd density alerts when 4–5 people gathered in one square metre, helping police prevent overcrowding.
The technology showed 95% accurate data on the number of people and vehicles at each location.
The ‘Deepam 2025’ app shared real-time information on medical camps, ambulances, food distribution spots, and emergency contacts.
