Akash Air Defence System Exports

India exported the Akash Air Defence System to Tajikistan and Turkmenistan as of 1 October 2026.
Akash is an indigenous short- to medium-range surface-to-air missile system developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
It is produced by Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
Armenia was the first foreign customer for the Akash system.
The system can engage fighter aircraft, cruise missiles, guided munitions and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
