  • India and Pakistan exchanged lists of their nuclear installations on January 1, 2026.
  • The exchange was carried out under the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attacks against Nuclear Installations and Facilities.
  • The agreement was signed on December 31, 1988, and came into force on January 27, 1991.
  • Both countries exchange these lists every year on January 1 as a confidence-building measure.
  • The exchange was conducted through diplomatic channels in New Delhi and Islamabad.
  • India and Pakistan also exchanged lists of prisoners under the Consular Access Agreement of 2008.
