  • The asteroid 2025 MN45 is the fastest-spinning asteroid of its size ever observed.
  • It measures about 710 metres (2,300 feet) in diameter and rotates once every 113 seconds.
  • The asteroid is located in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
  • It was discovered using data from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory’s LSST (Legacy Survey of Space and Time) Camera.
  • The extreme rotation suggests that 2025 MN45 has solid internal strength, unlike most “rubble pile” asteroids.
