- BharatGen was launched at the BharatGen Summit in New Delhi.
- It is India’s first indigenously developed government-funded Artificial Intelligence-based Multimodal Large Language Model for Indian languages.
- Currently, the models span nine languages: Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Telugu, and Kannada.
- It will cover all 22 scheduled Indian languages by June 2026
- BharatGen is developed under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems.
- It is designed to support ethical, inclusive and multilingual Artificial Intelligence rooted in Indian values.
- It aims to provide Artificial Intelligence solutions for healthcare, education, agriculture and governance.
