A poet, lyricist, singer, composer, filmmaker, and politician, Hazarika’s works transcended regional boundaries and connected Assam to national and global audiences.
His memorial in Jalukbari has been renamed Bhupen Hazarika Samannay Tirtha.
A new museum will be built at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra to preserve his legacy.
A biography written by Anuradha Sarma Pujari will be translated into major Indian languages and distributed to libraries across the country.
The centenary celebrations will culminate on September 8, 2026, with a ceremonial event in New Delhi, attended by the President of India.
