France’s National Assembly approved a bill that would allow adults suffering from unbearable and incurable illnesses to choose assisted dying.
Under strict conditions, some people will be able to request medical help to end their lives peacefully and with dignity.
Adults over 18 and living in France, can apply for assisted dying if they have a serious, incurable illness that causes constant physical or mental suffering.
If it is approved, the law could take full effect by 2026.
With this move, France may soon join other countries like Belgium and the Netherlands, where assisted dying is already legal.
