  • A rare caracal was spotted inside the Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary, Madhya Pradesh, for the first time in almost 20 years.
  • Caracals are medium-sized wild cats native to Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and parts of India.
  • They are nocturnal, solitary hunters preferring dry scrublands, semi-arid zones, and moist woodlands.
  • The species is listed as threatened under Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 in India.
