- The Government of Tamil Nadu launched the Climate Action Tracker and Climate Decarbonisation Pathways for selected districts.
- Districts including Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Coimbatore, and Nilgiris have been analysed with support from the Vasudha Foundation.
- The initiative aims to guide the State toward achieving net zero emissions through district-level action plans.
- Tamil Nadu has added nearly 10 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy in the last five years.
- About 60 percent of the State’s total installed power capacity now comes from renewable sources.
- Projects include electrifying 500 city buses in Coimbatore and replacing five lakh streetlights with light-emitting diode (LED) lights by 2030.
