Tamil Nadu Chief Minister announced a ₹100 crore co-creation fund at the Global Startup Summit held in Coimbatore.
The fund will be managed by the Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission (StartupTN).
It will invest in venture capital funds that support Tamil Nadu-based startups.
A dedicated budget allocation of ₹20 crore has been made for this co-creation fund in the current financial year.
Between 2020 and 2025, the number of Tamil Nadu startups recognized on the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) platform recorded a compound annual growth rate of 36 percent.
As of 2025, the number of DPIIT-recognized startups in Tamil Nadu has increased sixfold from 2,032 to 12,000, with half of them led by women.
In 2018, Tamil Nadu was ranked lowest in startup infrastructure, but rose to the top position by 2022 among Indian states.
The average investment raised by Tamil Nadu startups increased from $1 million in 2016 to $6 million in 2024, according to Inc42.
