  • The compact aims to mobilize public and private financing to reduce deaths caused by AMR.
  • AMR occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites stop responding to antimicrobial medicines such as antibiotics and antivirals.
  • The compact aims to help save more than 100 million lives globally by 2050.
  • In India, about 6 lakh people die every year due to infections caused by antimicrobial resistance.
