Complaints Against Judges in India

  • The Union Government informed Lok Sabha that 8,630 complaints were received against sitting judges in the last 10 years.
  • Complaints relate to corruption, sexual misconduct, and other serious impropriety against judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts.
  • Complaints against judges are handled under the “in-house procedure” by the Chief Justice of India and the Chief Justices of High Courts.
  • Complaints submitted through CPGRAMS (Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System) are forwarded to the concerned judicial authorities.
