Forty per cent of chief ministers face criminal cases, according to an ADR report.
Twelve out of thirty Chief Ministers (CMs) in India have declared criminal cases against themselves.
Revanth Reddy (Telangana) has the highest number of cases at 89, followed by M.K. Stalin (Tamil Nadu) with 47.
Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh) has declared 19 cases, Siddaramaiah (Karnataka) 13, and Hemant Soren (Jharkhand) five.
Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra) and Sukhvinder Singh (Himachal Pradesh) have four cases each, Pinarayi Vijayan (Kerala) two, and Bhagwant Mann (Punjab) one.
Ten CMs (33%) have declared serious criminal cases like attempt to murder, kidnapping, bribery, and intimidation.
The report was released as the Centre introduced bills to remove PMs, CMs, and Ministers arrested for 30 days on serious charges.
The Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) said this in an analysis report.
