- AIIMS New Delhi became the first government medical college in India to train on the da Vinci robotic surgical system.
- The da Vinci Surgical Robot was inaugurated at the Skills, E-Learning and Telemedicine (SET) facility of AIIMS.
- The robotic platform was provided by Intuitive Surgical.
- AIIMS is the only institution in India with two robotic systems dedicated solely to training.
- Robotic surgery training will cover specialties such as urology, gynaecology, general surgery, surgical oncology, and head and neck surgery.
