  • Wheat was successfully grown for the first time on desert land in Banseli village, Ajmer, using desert ‘soilification’ technology.
  • Researchers at Central University of Rajasthan (CUoR) modified desert sand into fertile soil using polymers.
  • The wheat crop yielded 26 kg per 100 sq. metres with just three irrigation cycles.
  • In a second phase, bajra, guar gum, and chickpea were tested in bio-treated sand from Jaisalmer, resulting in a 54% higher yield.
