Disaster Mitigation Projects for States

  • The High-Level Committee, chaired by the Union Home Ministry, has approved mitigation, recovery, and reconstruction projects worth Rs. 4645.60 crore for nine states.
  • It will be including Assam, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh.
  • A Rs. 692.05 crore plan for restoration and rejuvenation of wetlands in Assam.
  • It aims to enhance the flood resilience and protect aquatic ecosystems along the Brahmaputra River system.
  • The Urban Flood Risk Management Programme Phase-2, launched with a financial outlay of Rs. 2444.42 crore, will benefit 11 cities prone to urban flooding.
  • Financial assistance of Rs. 1270.79 crore to Assam and Rs. 260.56 crore to Kerala was approved for recovery after floods and landslides in 2022 and 2024, respectively.
  • The committee also sanctioned the advance release of Rs. 24.40 crore as the second instalment of the Central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to Sikkim for 2025-26.
