The High-Level Committee, chaired by the Union Home Ministry, has approved mitigation, recovery, and reconstruction projects worth Rs. 4645.60 crore for nine states.
It will be including Assam, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh.
A Rs. 692.05 crore plan for restoration and rejuvenation of wetlands in Assam.
It aims to enhance the flood resilience and protect aquatic ecosystems along the Brahmaputra River system.
The Urban Flood Risk Management Programme Phase-2, launched with a financial outlay of Rs. 2444.42 crore, will benefit 11 cities prone to urban flooding.
Financial assistance of Rs. 1270.79 crore to Assam and Rs. 260.56 crore to Kerala was approved for recovery after floods and landslides in 2022 and 2024, respectively.
The committee also sanctioned the advance release of Rs. 24.40 crore as the second instalment of the Central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to Sikkim for 2025-26.
