- Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology, under the Department of Science and Technology, has developed a new biosurfactant using ghee.
- The biosurfactant was produced using the probiotic bacterium Lactobacillus plantarum JBC5 and ghee as the main raw material.
- It showed strong antibacterial action against Staphylococcus aureus, which causes skin and wound infections.
- The compound achieved 60% emulsification index and remained stable up to 276°C.
