Eradication of Child Marriage

September 27 , 2025 14 hrs 0 min 16 0
  • Surajpur district in Chhattisgarh has declared 75 village panchayats as “Child Marriage-Free” during the launch of the “Healthy Women, Empowered Families” campaign.
  • The status was granted after no child marriage cases were reported in these panchayats over the past two years.
  • Awareness campaigns involved Anganwadi workers, panchayat representatives, NGOs, and local communities.
  • The initiative promoted child rights, delayed marriages, and girls’ education, resulting in improved health and nutrition outcomes.
  • The success aligns with the state’s broader “Child Marriage-Free Chhattisgarh Campaign,” launched in March 2024 with support from UNICEF.
