- The Government of India has notified the country’s first standards for cloud computing, data centre performance, and Ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- The standards were notified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018.
- These standards are aligned with international frameworks of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
- They introduce measures such as the Cooling Efficiency Ratio (CER) to evaluate the cooling performance of data centres.
- The standards also promote ethical principles in Artificial Intelligence (AI), such as transparency and reduction of bias.
