  • The Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) have renewed the ‘One Herb, One Standard’ initiative for another three years.
  • The initiative aims to establish common scientific standards for medicinal plants used in Ayurveda, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, Unani and Homoeopathy.
  • The Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy (PCIM&H) and Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for three years.
  • In the first phase, launched through a 2022 MoU, the two institutions developed 50 monographs on medicinal plants.
  • The renewed initiative will expand standardisation and align Indian standards with international quality requirements to improve the reliability and global acceptance of traditional medicines.
