- This is the first successful birth of an Indian-born cheetah in India.
- Project Cheetah was launched to reintroduce African cheetahs into India, where cheetahs had become extinct in 1952.
- The primary reintroduction site is Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh, selected for its suitable grassland‑savanna habitat and prey base.
- Under the “Action Plan for Reintroduction of Cheetah in India”, 50 cheetahs will be brought in over five years from Namibia and South Africa.
