  • Russia has imported gasoline from India for the first time as Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries have reduced domestic fuel production.
  • Ukrainian strikes have reduced Russia’s refining capacity, forcing it to restrict fuel exports and seek gasoline from countries including India and Belarus.
  • The first shipment of around 42,000 tonnes of gasoline was supplied by Nayara Energy from its Vadinar refinery in Gujarat and reached Russia.
  • The fuel was transferred between tankers at Damietta, Egypt, before being transported to Russia.
