  • India leads in milk and millet production, and ranks second in fruits, vegetables, and fish output.
  • India’s rice fortification programme (Fortified rice includes iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12 to combat malnutrition) was completed under central schemes by March 2024.
  • The National Food Security Act, 2013, covers over 78 crore people with subsidised foodgrains.
  • The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana [PMGKAY] was extended till 2028 to ensure free foodgrains.
