FORTRESS America Initiative

The United States Department of War launched the FORTRESS America defence security initiative.
FORTRESS America stands for Federal Operations for Resilience, Troop Resources, Energy, Supply, and Survivability.
It aims to make major US military installations independent of the civilian power grid to ensure uninterrupted operations during emergencies.
Its five pillars are energy independence, supply-chain resilience, strategic defence reserves, installation and cyber resilience, and space and spectrum resilience.
It promotes domestic production of critical defence materials, including rare earth elements, specialty metals, semiconductors and propellants.
