  • The 13th edition of Global Terrorism Index (GTI) 2026 reported a decline in global terrorism in 2025, with terrorism-related deaths falling by 28% and incidents declining by 22%.
  • The report was released by the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP), based in Sydney, Australia.
  • Terrorism is becoming more concentrated, decentralised and digitally driven despite the decline in attacks.
  • Nearly 70% of terrorism-related deaths occurred in Pakistan, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Niger and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
  • Terror groups increasingly use online radicalisation, lone-wolf attacks, small autonomous cells and digital platforms.
