- A Supreme Court panel has recommended the phased creation of the Goa Tiger Reserve.
- In the first phase, 468.6 sq. km, including Netravali and Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuaries, will be notified.
- In the second phase, 208 sq. km, including Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, may be considered later.
- These areas will be contiguous with Karnataka’s Kali Tiger Reserve, forming an integrated landscape of 1,814 sq. km.
- Core zones will be strictly protected, while buffer zones will allow limited human activity, ensuring funds and support for tiger conservation.
