  • A Hair-crested Drongo was sighted for the first time at the foothills of Manjamalai near Palamedu in Madurai.
  • The scientific name is Dicrurus hottentottus, and it belongs to the Dicruridae family.
  • It lives in evergreen forests, moist deciduous forests, forest edges, scrublands and plantations.
  • Its conservation status is Least Concern in the IUCN Red List, and it is listed under Schedule II of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972.
