The HAMMER is a precision-guided air-to-ground weapon jointly made in India by Bharat Electronics Limited and French based firm Safran.
HAMMER stands for Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range.
It uses a modular guidance system GPS INS (Global Positioning System Inertial Navigation System), infraredor laser to strike hardened targets accurately.
It can hit targets up to about 70 kilometres from stand-off range.
It is used on Rafale aircraft and will also be integrated with LCA Tejas.
