  • Tamil Nadu Forest Department has launched HAWK (Hostile Activity Watch Kernel), a digital wildlife crime tracking system.
  • It is the 3rd state after Kerala and Karnataka to adopt HAWK, developed by WTI (Wildlife Trust of India) and NTT DATA.
  • Modules include Peregrine (crime management), Shikra (mortality reporting), Harrier (offender tracking), and Kestrel (legacy data).
  • HAWK features NER (Named Entity Recognition), network analysis, and predictive modelling for hotspot detection.
  • It supports the API (Application Programming Interface) integration with CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems).
