  • The research was conducted by the Government Stanley Medical College Hospital (SMCH), Chennai.
  • The study found that the fermented rice (Pazhaiya Soru) contains dietary fibre, resistant starch, protein, and micronutrients.
  • It provides minerals such as iron, zinc, selenium, and B-complex vitamins.
  • The food contains beneficial bacteria that support gut health.
  • It helps in recovery from gastrointestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
