- The recent survey in Periyar Tiger Reserve (PTR) have added five new amphibian species and three new reptile species to the region’s records.
- A total of 67 amphibian species and 82 reptile species were documented during the survey.
- Amphibian diversity is notable, with 53 out of 67 species (around 80%) endemic to the Western Ghats.
- Among reptiles, there are 12 species on the endangered list.
