ISRO launched the Himalayan Outpost for Planetary Exploration (HOPE) mission in Tso Kar Valley, Ladakh.
ISRO is collaborating with the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, and the Institute of Aerospace Medicine Bengaluru.
The mission was conducted at 4530 metres where the mission simulates Mars-like conditions, including high ultraviolet radiation, low air pressure and extreme cold.
It tests human physiological and psychological responses for future Moon and Mars missions.
The Experiments include the oxygen starvation, radiation exposure and isolation endurance.
Previous related missions are the Ladakh Human Analogue Mission - November 2024 and the isolation study Anugami - July 2025.
