The 36th Ig Nobel Prize ceremony was held on 3 September 2026 in Zurich, Switzerland, recognising unusual scientific research.
The prizes are organised annually by Annals of Improbable Research for research that “makes people laugh, then think.”
Indian researchers from inStem, Bengaluru, were part of the Chemistry Prize-winning team for studying energy-rich protein crystals from cockroach milk.
The Technology Prize recognised research using mosquito mouthparts as ultra-fine 3D-printing nozzles.
The Soil Science Prize recognised researchers who buried cotton underwear in more than 25 countries to study soil health.
