- It was named ‘Impatiens selvasinghii’ in honour of Professor P Selva Singh Richard for his contributions to reproductive biology of endemic plants.
- India hosts over 280 Impatiens taxa, with 130 endemics to the Western Ghats, and about 80% of these are classified as endangered.
